Study to determine whether an investigational study medication when added to a current regimen is effective for those who have inadequate control using oral meds or insulin. Primary objective is bone density. | ||

Base study is 6 months, 6-8 visits Extension study is 12 months, 7-9 visits 2 DEXA scans 2 CAT scans |

Qualifiers: |
Ages 55-80 years old 3 years post menopause HbA1c > 7% and < 10% Diet controlled or stable oral meds and/or insulin |

| Exclusions: | Treatment for osteoporosis Vitamin D defeciancy Bone fracture within 12 months Bariatric surgery within 3 years Pancreatitis |

6 months with possible 18 month extension | ||
