Study to determine if a combination of two insulins are more effective than one insulin by itself in a population of type 2 diabetics that are not using insulin to control their blood sugars and are using 1-2 oral medications to control their blood sugar. A blood sugar diary must be kept The use of an insulin pen is required |

Qualifiers: |
Type 2 diabetes not using insulin 18 years or older HbA1c 7.0 - 10%, BMI < 40% Stable dose Metformin > 1500 mg or Metformin >1500 + Pioglitizone > 30 mg |

Exclusions: | Pregnancy or breast-feeding Impaired kidney or liver function Uncontrolled hypertension Pacreatitis |
